I am implementing a scientifically research-based curriculum that focuses on 5 key areas in early childhood development: Social Emotional Wellness, Academic Development, Family Engagement, Learning Readiness, Behavioral Health and Early Intervention. I am focusing on a group of K-1 special education students with behavioral and social challenges. The program is best suited for use on an iPad, which allows for flexibility in lesson design as well as data collection and analysis. I have been using the curriculum throughout the year, but having the ability to use the iPad application will significantly better my practice by allowing me to better tailor units and lessons to individual needs as well as to collect and graph data to measure progress and outcomes. With the use of the iPad application, children are able to access the curriculum's music and activities online. In addition, the use of an iPad will also make it easier for me to design interactive lessons and activities though paired use with a SmartBoard.
