Technology is a huge part of education today, and the chorus classroom is no different. In our room, we have an old projector cart with a projector that plugs into the computer and the wall and projects onto an old screen that does not go up and down and blocks half of the whiteboard space. With cords all over the floor and a clunky cart in the middle of the room, it makes it difficult to move about and get in good positions for singing and other activities.
I am requesting a Vizio 65" Smart TV and a wall mount to help facilitate learning in my classroom. Everyday precious instructional time is wasted trying to connect iPads and laptops with outdated projection technology, but with a mounted TV that can be connected through an Apple TV device to our iPads, we would be able to better utilize our class time. This setup will allow us to put away the projector cart and use our computers and tablets to pull up different apps. This will give my students more opportunities to be engaged in lessons and actively participate and engage with one another through this technology.
Examples of what we can project will be musical examples, scores, videos, rhythm exercises, and sight reading. We can also post announcements on the screens, student projects, and class discussions.
