My first-grade class is full of 17 energetic first graders! Many of my students need extra tools to keep them focused and on task. 6 and 7 years old have a lot of energy and it has been proven that different seating approaches help focus students which leads to success. I believe that the flexible seating approach would be extremely beneficial for this bunch of wiggly students.
I am requesting 5 tractor seats, 3 balance balls and 4 lap trays. During independent math and literacy centers having multiple seating options would benefit these learners. This would allow student to swivel and release some wiggles while they are learning and completing their classwork. Students will have the option to be in charge of their learning and pick one of the three flexible options to shine. With the amount of energy my students have I believe that switching to the flexible seating approach would allow my students to excel!
