I teach in a 6th grade special education classroom in a lower income area in Illinois. My students are goodhearted and motivated learners. But, organization was definitely not a life skill they had learned early in life. There is so much going on in their lives at home and in school that they loose their focus on simple daily activities. Many of the statements I hear are: "Where's my homework?" and "I don't know where I put my reading notebook!" They have great intent, but due to their learning disabilities, they need clutter free, direct focus.
