This year, for the first time, our school will be sponsoring a genealogy club for 9th and 10th graders called the "Finding Your Roots Ancestry Club." Over the course of the semester, a group of 20 interested students will use the internet and technology to research their families and to record their family histories.
To make this undertaking a success, our students will need some materials. These include: binders and tabbed dividers, printer paper, thumb drives, index cards, color coding stickers, digital recorders, pencils, highlighters, a map of the US and one of the world, and maybe even subscriptions to Ancestry and GenealogyBank. We'd also like to arrange a field trip to our local library's State Division/City Archives & Special Collections section and/or our State Archives Research Library.
Your contribution will enable our students to sharpen their research skills, which will help them soar throughout their lives, as they discover their roots.
