Every student deserves the opportunity to experience the magic of being transported to another world through literature. One of the best ways to give kids this experience is through reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. More than just a story about magic, it teaches students valuable lessons about empathy, loyalty, friendship, and accepting differences.
Such engaging reading is a perfect way to simultaneously teach critical reading skills AND valuable character education lessons—it's a win-win! I would love to be able to purchase a class set of this wonderful novel to use year after year with each group of students. I plan to read this with each class so that we can analyze the novel together while focusing on critical reading comprehension focus areas including point of view, figurative language, and theme. Immersive extension activities will highlight the character education lessons that they learn through the story in order to create an unforgettable reading experience. I am so excited to take my students on this magical journey!
