The novel, The Glass Castle, being non-fiction helps students to see the importance of what they are reading and make connections to prior knowledge and life events they deal with daily in their own homes.
Materials will help students to make real-life connections and themes to not only their life but to the real world. They will see many instances of a real family that they can all relate to in one way or another peaking and holding their interest.
These materials will help not only in helping students to make connections they can relate to, but they will also be able to have the book in hand versus reading an online text which is difficult for many readers especially the struggling ones.
