Each Friday during winter, 4th and 5th grade students gather in the gym after school to play futsal. Futsal is similar to indoor soccer but is played with small goals, a heavier ball, and on a basketball-type hard court. It emphasizes sharp passing, ball skills, and quick thinking.
Friday Futsal provides a free after school activity to many students who lack the resources to join organized teams. This is an all-volunteer program and we have no funding from the school or district. Currently,​ our program has one ball and 25 pennies that I purchased myself. A few more balls and a set of cones will definitely help each student improve.
