This year I am teaching my students about important topics like multiplication, division, fractions and area/perimeter. We need these hands on math materials to help us understand these important concepts. For example, we will use our geoboards to help calculate the perimeter. We will use our base ten to help with reviewing basic addition and subtraction skills needed to understand multiplication and division. My students need to have many opportunities to interact with materials that help with their learning because many of them are English language learners. Learners that are able to understand real-world concepts by using hands on practice, will be more prepared for the real world.
