My students need math manipulative toolboxes to help them succeed during math. Students need to be able to have hands-on materials, especially during math to really be sure they understand and develop a true understanding of how they get to an answer.
Students need to understand why 2+2=4, not just because it does.
The only way to help students with this is for each student to be able to have their own set of manipulatives to use and explore. Today's learners need more than just a piece of paper and pencil to succeed. The only way I will be able to provide this for students will be for them to have the math toolboxes.
