We want to plant a garden and give our students the opportunity to grow and care for their own fruits and vegetables. By using the Dome Hot House, we can start our plants earlier and have time to harvest before school ends for the summer. The green house and raised bed will allow us to keep our plants outside and not have the deer or other wide life munch on them. This activity will give them a hands on lesson is physical science. It will allow them to see how plants grow and where their food comes from.
With so many of the kids living in housing without yards, they do not have the chance at home to have gardens or areas with living plants. A classroom garden will give our students a sense of ownership and pride in the classroom. It will also help with introducing them to healthier food options that they may not otherwise get to experience.
