Every year my AP students study animal behavior; one of our prescribed labs is to study a variable that affects movement of isopods. An easy, effective way to do this is by using a choice chamber and allowing the animals to orient themselves toward/away from a stimulus (students choose the variable and design the experiment). We currently use a "choice chamber" I have made out of old petri dishes. They have sharp edges where I cut them and the isopods can slip through some of the openings. You can purchase manufactured choice chambers that are much easier/safer to use but are also outside of my budget.
