I teach at a Title I school in a high poverty area. All of my students qualify for free lunches. Most of my students are refugees and are still learning English. This carpet will help their learning because they will be able to use the pictures and letters to practice their letter identification and sounds.
The use of a classroom carpet will help create a better classroom community. My students will have a comfortable place to foster learning. This is a place where I introduce new learning and we have discussions.
I want my students to be comfortable while they are learning. Right now my students are sitting on the tile floor during our whole group lessons. This is not a comfortable way for them to learn.
