Support our room on our quest to improve our reading skills, and develop a lifelong love of reading! A major component of first-grade is establishing foundational reading skills, and learning to love and appreciate books; this is something each student will carry with them throughout their lives.
The goal of this project is to give my students access to books at their individual reading levels.
As a first year teacher, the number one resource that I feel I am lacking is access to high-quality books. By having more resources inside our classroom library, my students will be able to further their love of reading and learning while developing their independence. By having access to a library that is leveled, each of my students will be able to independently select and read a variety of books at the level that best supports their wide range of abilities. My students will also be able to set reading goals for themselves, and watch themselves grow and move across the different levels as the year progresses.
