Throughout my years in the classroom I have seen the growth of STEM thinking. I want my students to have access to materials that will help them start thinking outside of the box.
I feel it is important for young learners to have access to manipulatives that will help them learn in a variety of ways. These materials will be used in place of morning work. My goal is to get their "creative juices" flowing from being hands on, and not just a review worksheet. This will help my classroom environment become a positive learning room right at the beginning of the day.
With the hype of technology, many students are not getting hands on, imaginative building in their daily life. It is vital to a young student to be able to imagine and build. I want to give them the opportunity to close the gap, and learn how fun it is to build, learn, and imagine by simple building manipulatives.
