Having a good classroom library is so important for students! Many of these students do not have access to grade level appropriate books at home and no way to get to a library. By having a wide selection of books the students find interesting I can ensure that they are reading appropriate on level texts.
In 6th grade, we focus on students as authors. What better way to be inspired and learn good figurative language skills then by reading books by their favorite authors. These books will help students dream and imagine worlds beyond their own. Hopefully, it will even encourage them to become writers and dreamers.
