When I became a school counselor, I asked the teachers what groups and/or skills did they think were the most pressing for our students. There was a resounding consensus regarding personal hygiene. While I can teach students about hygiene, how it affects their self-esteem, personal relationships, learning environment, the ability to get a job, recommendation letters, etc., if the students do not have access to the basic necessities of personal hygiene, it won't help. It will only make them feel worse. Please help me provide these students with items we usually don't have to think twice about grabbing for in our own personal lives. The full-size hygiene kits include soap, deodorant, washcloths, toothpaste and toothbrushes for every middle school student.
