Students will be hooked on reading and exploring literary features in an exciting imaginative world full of adventure and Greek Mythology. The Lightning Thief is Book 1 in a five novel series by Rick Riordan. This series will draw students into a new genre of literature and make it fun and exciting through creative group projects incorporating the Depth & Complexity Icons. They will be annotating, building vocabulary, identifying literary elements such as, plot, setting, character development, foreshadowing, predicting, figurative language, writing components, and more in an interactive reading notebook as we read this novel together in class. Reading books sets young minds free and gives them power across all subject matter. Help these young readers become tomorrow’s leaders by fueling the passion they have for learning.
