As first graders, my students are learning how to be independent learners. In order to find that success, my students need to be able to see the steps/processes learners go through in order to be successful. With the gift of a document camera, my students will be given the gift of sight! The document camera will allow my students to see math manipulatives, science experiments, projections of our interactive notebooks, workbook projections, art/ craft projections, etc. instead of me holding them up, walking them around the room, or attempting to scan them in a high-enough quality my students can see it on the board. A document camera would save me time, and allow my students to better see how I am doing what I am doing so they too will be successful. One of the favorite subjects in my classroom is science. My students love experiments and they love their interactive lab notebooks. With the document camera, my students will be able to see the labs up-close projected on the board when I don't have enough materials for the individual (or it will help me model when I do), and it will allow them to follow me as we venture through our interactive notebooks.
