Innovation, design and collaboration are my students' future and I must jump on any chance given to incorporate these into their learning. As eighth graders in Tennessee, my students must understand the input/output relationship of functions as well as comparisons of rates of change. They must be able to represent functions and compare them in their different forms. In addition, they must also understand how friction, speed, force and motion are related.
As an educator, I am challenged to provide them opportunities to think critically, productively struggle, collaborate and become innovators and your donation can help breathe life into this task.
With the standards mentioned above in mind, my students will be challenged to build and code a LEGO Mindstorm robot through a maze. There will be maze constraints and factors that will influence the robot's rate of change. Data must be collected and analyzed.
The Engineer Design Process must be followed and discussed by the group. Collaboration and teamwork is a key component of the rubric.
