A group of IB seniors will use creative materials to paint and assemble portable backdrops for our sophomore English students as part of a legacy project called CAS. They want to help strengthen the presence of the dramatic arts at our school.
We do not have a drama program, so this will allow better exploration of this exciting genre by helping to immerse students in Shakespeare's version of Ancient Rome.
As a legacy project, CAS is designed to "pass the torch" so a group of IB juniors will be invited to continue helping us renovate our study of drama, bringing this facet of English class to life in increasingly exciting ways, and allowing our students the opportunity to explore drama with increasing depth.
Our group of seniors will be using the paints, cloth, and grommets to create portable backdrops that show the major settings in Julius Caesar: the streets of Rome, Brutus’s orchard, the Senate, and the final battlefield. They have a PVC framework to hold these much like a shower curtain, and they can pack down into storage bins, making the easily stored and able to be shared between 3 teachers.
