Reading great books hook kids. I believe that the only way kids get better at reading is to READ!! New titles LIKE Harry Potter and The Land of Stories excite kids and make them WANT to read. Being that I am the only person who teaches reading in fifth grade, I need to provide enough books for 70 students. Over time the most well-liked books get worn and need to be replaced. Our set of Harry Potter Books is falling apart. The kids in my class need to read in class daily and ​also at home. The more books the better!!
