My students will use the iPad mini as a motivator and also as a therapy tool. Many of my students work better when they are motivated and engaged in hands-on learning. There are many apps available that are engaging and appropriate to use to work on improving speech and language skills.
The iPad mini will be used for collecting data as well as an introduction to AAC for students who are not able to communicate on their own but are not yet ready to independently use an AAC device. Students will also be able to use apps to work on improving skills in the areas of articulation, grammar, fluency, comprehension and more. The iPad will in no way take away from traditional paper and pencil or interactive learning but will be used as another method to engage students.
