In Social Studies we focus on Ancient Civilizations and I have currently started to read aloud a fiction novel related to our content of study. The students were glued to the novel and I want to add a read aloud novel to read with the students. For this to happen I would need a class set (35) novels to read each class period with my 160 sixth grade students. My district is currently focusing on literacy and adding a novel in Social Studies would continue to help teach reading and writing through Social Studies. My current class has an old textbook and minimal fiction books available to students. This novel would add great learning opportunities for students.
