These Fire HD 10 tablets will allow my students to access all facets of our curriculum at their individual instructional levels. I am a special education teacher and many of my students benefit from multiple means of representation of content, particularly with math. Currently, my co-teacher and I parallel teach, so she has half of the class in the front of the room, and I teach the other half in the back. This has been difficult as my students cannot see the word problems from their seats. The tablets would allow the students to see the problems and solve them right on the screen. With the screen sharing ability on the Fire tablets, I can then easily assess and support students.
One of the apps I would utilize on the Fire HD 10 tablets for my students is The Fractions app. 5th-grade math is complex and challenging, especially for those with learning disabilities. The Fractions app utilizes visual representations of fractions while allowing the students to move and manipulate the pieces in the fractions and diagrams. This visual and fine motor component will enhance student retention of the content.
My students are phenomenal, and I know they will change the word for the better someday. I just need to provide them with the right tools and strategies to succeed in all aspects of their lives. Please consider helping this project come to life, and know that by doing so you will be positively changing several students' lives forever.
