We have all sat through that long meeting in that uncomfortable chair. You know the one I am talking about, its hard, it's plastic, and it's often worn out. It's the chair that makes it difficult to focus and complete tasks. The one where your can't wait to stand up and hope you never have to sit in again.
Unfortunately, for my active, special education students that uncomfortable chair is a daily reality. Our elementary special education classroom is furnished with adult sized tables and plastic folding chairs. While many of my students would love to, and often need to, wiggle while they learn, they can't. Instead they have to sit up in uncomfortable, plastic, folding chairs, designed for adults.
I created this project with the hope of giving my students seating designed for them and their unique needs. If this project is funded my students will have the option to sit and learn in chairs that are not only the right size but, designed to meet their unique learning needs as well.
