My students want to become better readers, writers, and mathematicians, and they will become those things as they practice their high-frequency words. Through the usage of the materials, my students will be able to practice and memorize high-frequency words. This will help them to have a better reading rate and comprehension. My students will use the materials to do multi-sensory activities that will help their brains remember high-frequency words. These activities include using Wikki Sticks, Play-Doh, sand, and magnetic letters to write sight words.
Learning sight words is essential for students' growth in literacy. These materials will help my students reach their individual (IEP goals) and class goals. Since high-frequency words make up more than 70% of the words that my students encounter in their texts, they will be able to be very successful in my groups and in their general education classes as they learn these words.
