In the third grade curriculum, students learn about how to tell time and elapsed time. The latter part is difficult to teach without using manipulatives. The third grade has one class set of gear clocks for the whole grade to use at one time. It would be a lot easier for each student to be able to use a clock individually.
Using these clocks the students can see how the time passes by manipulating the time in an understanding way. I feel this will be a great way to get students involved with elapsed time and will be able to see the time fly.
