Gross and fine motor skills are essential to every day tasks, but in an age where computers and tablets are the norm, these skills are often lacking. In order to create strong bodies who are ready for learning, our class will be working in centers that will build both gross and fine motor skills. The art easel and appropriate materials will helps students with gross skills as they make strokes with their arms. This will also lead to fine motor skills as the paintbrushes get smaller and the paper gets smaller. The tongs and sorting manipulatives will give students a chance to work on those finger muscles which will help them when they begin writing. Gross and fine motor skills are the basic skills, and without practice, they will not grow strong!
