I am requesting 15 wireless mice and keyboards to help transform the media center into a 21st century learning lab. Currently, technology is appealing to all 650 students however, at our school with the lack of budget and funds we are still using ancient computers, towers, mice etc...Many of the programs that are provided by the district won't work because our computers are obsolete. My students deserve every opportunity to explore, investigate, learn and apply technology throughout their day. They do not have such advantages when they leave for home.
Someone once said, "Technology should be at the point of instruction and be as accessible in learning, as a pencil", I want to start small.
Currently in my "lab" we have outdated equipment, tables and chairs. It is my hope by eliminating the clutter of wires first the "lab" will begin to look a bit more cohesive. I will be able to label each mouse and keyboard to match the computer so that there is no guessing when the students arrive. Eventually, I hope to get a few new computers and printers to update and bring our "lab" into the true definition of computer lab.
