Students need to physically feel and touch in order to internalize many math concepts. Games and manipulatives are a key to keeping children's interest and turning on the lightbulb of understanding.
Fractions in particular need to be seen, handled, built, and manipulated. And my experience has always been that fun is one of the most important keys to learning. Playing math games is a great way to "sneak" learning into a child's preferred behavior.
My wonderful 4th graders will love the fractions kit because the pies, bars, and stackables go a long way to illustrate the actual meaning of equivalent fractions.
