Like any other preschoolers, my students are interested in playing with a variety of toys, particularly cause and effect toys, and those that provide sensory stimulation, among other high-interest items. However, they aren't always using them in conventional ways, and our toys wear out and break down quickly. These toys are highly motivating, and can be used to teach not only functional play skills, but functional communication and social interaction skills as well.
Where there is interest and motivation, there is learning. If my students have access to these items, they will be able to enhance their communication skills, and engage in more advanced functional play.
Motivating toys like the Fat Brain Toys Roll Again Tower, V-Tech Pop-a-Balls, and the PerfectLife Piano for Kids will help my students to access those high-interest materials that will set the stage for ongoing learning. Thank you!
