To enhance our classroom reading resources, the Fiction and Nonfiction Paired Passage at different grade levels will help meet the diverse reading levels within my class. My hope is that it will make everyone feel secure and not embarrassed when they are reading for meaning to determine what is fact and what is fiction on their reading level. It will help students make a connection between the two. Students will enjoy reading passages that are fiction and nonfiction for students to compare. This will provide an opportunity to discuss different points of view through reading about these different topics to help deepen their understanding of the two.
Continuing to give students an opportunity to build their understanding of math concepts, students can explore fractions and decimals by using a number line at their desks with the ability to write on them to reinforce the concept of fractions and decimals taught. This is additionally true for students who are learning about volume and can manipulate cubic units to fill containers to determine the volume. Once students get the foundational skills down through concrete learning they can move to the representational phase and last onto the abstract stage.
Please consider funding these additional resources in reading and math to help engage and reinforce the learning process for my beautiful multi-cultural background student. Help me bring the enjoyment of reading fiction and nonfiction to students. In addition to providing students with additional manipulatives through the items, we are asking for. Thank you!
