Our core curriculum for science has a strand that would be addressed with the addition of this model to our classroom. Strand 6.1.1 Develop and use a model of the Sun-Earth-Moon system to describe the cyclic patterns of lunar phases, eclipses of the Sun and Moon, and seasons. Examples of models could be physical, graphical, or conceptual.
This model will add to the students understanding of how the Sun, Earth, and Moon interact.
We use diagrams and other physical models in our study of this strand. With the addition of the Hubbard Scientific Illuminated Orbiter, the students will use it for lessons and it will be displayed in the classroom where it can be of use constantly.
