In one of the largest districts in the nation, at one of the most at-risk schools in that district, our students need more than average, they need the best. Our most up-to-date piece of technology in the art classroom is currently an overhead projector. Most resources go towards core curricula, which is needed, but art is more than just an exploratory for some of these students.
Our students need exposure to technical skills in the art classroom to remain relevant in the workforce. The iPads would allow us to learn about website or avatar design, learn how to edit photos and videos in such a connected age of social media. The cameras would allow students interested in photography and video to explore those interests. The iPads would also allow for further inclusion to more special needs students, as well as further involvement for more advanced students in some areas.
