I propose to take all four of my Math 1 classes on a critical-thinking, problem-solving adventure! I want to take them to an Escape Room!! I begin every class with some sort of puzzle or riddle that requires strategic thinking, such as "Can you name 3 consecutive days without using Monday, Wednesday, or Friday?" Although many of these opening puzzles aren't specifically math related, all math is about solving puzzles and thinking strategically.
I want to expose my students to this in the venue of an Escape Room, where they can put their skills to the test in a way that builds their confidence, interdependence, and social skills. Furthermore, I want to expose them to new cuisines, and so I also want to include lunch at an Indian Restaurant, which I'm sure many of my students have never tried before. I want to broaden their experiencesas much as possible with this excursion! Due to space limitations, unfortunately, I cannot take all of my students out at one time. I would need to take one class at a time.
