We use the Scholastic News magazines to extend our science and social studies lesson in class. There are lessons about manners, animals, music, plants, most things that are to taught in our second grade curriculum.
I love using the online component because it helps them with vocabulary, reads to the students in English and Spanish, has videos about the subject, and fun games to review the article
The magazine also teaches our students about informational print! The students are able to describe the parts of informational text. All in all it is a great teaching tool to supplement our textbooks. Thank you for thinking of us!
