My students are devouring books and reading across many genres. I have been purchasing these books on my own and since beginning to use chapter books as a resource, my students' motivation to read has increased! I realized I am seriously lacking books at their interest and reading level.
As their teacher, I have to provide my students the needed tools, in this case chapter books, to be successful.
That is where you come in. I need help to motivate my students. "The Bully" is a book about a boy from Philadephia who deal with hardships such as bullying and poverty that my students can relate to. "I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912" is a story that will allow my students to understand a crucial event in history through the eyes of a young boy.
These materials are books that my students would love to read in their literature circles. They are flourishing through discussing the books they enjoy and can't wait to read each day. With your help, they can do this!
