This trip is all about leadership and teamwork. Students in the modern classroom need to understand the importance of working together. While we rely more and more on technology, it has become increasingly more important to instill young people with the leadership and decision making skills that are important for the real world.
This program utilizes a mix of experiential adventure
initiatives, with highly trained facilitators to help students:
* Learn to assess risks/challenges and, greater understand the difference between positive and negative risk.
* Demonstrate the courage to accept positive risk challenges while avoiding negative risk challenges.
*Improve social/emotional awareness and recognize how their actions impact themselves and others
*Resolve conflict and problem solve with classmates
The intended outcome of this trip is to get students out of their comfort zone in a safe controlled environment where they can face new challenges and find ways to work together and overcome obstacles. A focus this year, on team and as a school, has been that of leadership. This program will continue to build upon the idea that all students can be leaders, and build positive relationships with peers. There will be physical and mental challenges which will require each person to be involved with the team in order to succeed.
This is an outdoor program in a time when we are becoming more and more indoor people. The experience of a high elements course, zip-lines, leadership games, tree climbs, and orienteering will push our students in a very positive way. They will see that they can succeed, that they overcome fears, and that they can count on those around them for support. These are lessons that are reach far beyond the schools walls.
