Please help my co-teacher and I give our students learning materials for their summer reading! We currently have 31 students in our 3rd-grade class. We teach in a low-income area and are unsure of the abundance of reading books the students have access to at home. We are unsure if students will be able to even access their local library over the summer, which is where most of them go to find their summer reads.
Every year we notice the majority of students experience a "summer slide" in their reading abilities. In order to ensure the students are still reading grade-level material, my co-teacher and I would love to provide students with at least two texts. We will ensure the students have at least one fiction and one non-fiction text. We plan on providing the students with a read-along as well, to support their decoding and comprehension.
Please consider donating, our students are so deserving of these books. The books will be mailed directly to our student's homes, along with a summer letter and list of additional books they can read (if they have access). Thank you so much for your consideration!
