The saxophone section has about 6 students playing the instrument and I have only 4 decent working horns. There is a desperate need for another horn that works so the students don't have to try to piece together a horn that will work. I have also asked for 2 flutes. I have 9 working flutes and 13 people playing so there are a couple who share. Many of the instruments have big problems, so it would help to have a couple of good working instruments. I also requested a few tuners. We have been working on intonation and balance in our ensembles and we use the tuners. I have 1 in the classroom and it takes a long time to do tuning exercises with just 1 tuner. I requested more because I want to do activities where the students work in groups and do a tuner worksheet together to find what notes are flat and sharp and how to adjust to fix the problem.
