We already have been immersed in learning about Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. We are currently reading "Number the Stars", have read non-fiction accounts about the history and people of that time period. I am looking to add lots of picture books and stories to our classroom library to further our understanding of the events during WWII and the Holocaust.
My students will use the stories of these Holocaust survivors and protectors to enrich our understanding and projects for this unit. They will work in small groups to discuss and develop their projects that will be displayed in our school to help educate other students on the Holocaust and what it cost humanity.
They have been learning about the area, people, and cultures during this time period. I want them to have lots of experiences reading different authors and people's perspectives through all of these different picture and photographic books. They will create projects about what they learn. This is a cross-curricular project that will then be shared with the entire school community.
