Each quarter, the Academy takes the 9th graders on a trip to reward those who have passed all of their classes, have no missing work, no major punishments for behaviors and have missed less than three unexcused days. These are trips that many of our kids will not have experienced because they are from a small town.
We use these activities such as bowling as a way to keep them motivated throughout the school year, increase the feeling of family, and even as health and wellness without letting them know. This has contributed to a vast increase in the number of students who end the school year as sophomores. We average in the high 90% and are proud of our students.
The trips have gotten more expensive. If we can offset the cost of transportation, we can continue.
