I believe that all students can learn to love reading if they are provided the right materials. I want to create a library that houses a diverse range of books and conduct book talks to encourage students to check the books out. I plan on doing FlipGrid book reviews and encouraging students to do their own book review videos when they've finished a book.
By giving them a diversified library including stories about immigrants, people of color, and historical graphic novels students are able to engage with literature in new and exciting ways.
Having a classroom library is a new idea for me but I've already had five students check out books I've previously purchased on my own. By helping to fund this project you will help to expose students to new and exciting forms of literature that they normally don't see and help to encourage the growth of lifelong readers.
