"Starting in kindergarten, if a student reads 20 minutes a day at home, they will hear 1.8 million words per year. They will have read for 851 hours by 6th grade and on standardized tests, they will likely score better than 90% of their peers." https://www.wcpo.com/brand-spotlight/how-reading-20-minutes-a-day-impacts-your-child-amazon-kindle
Reading is the tried and true method for improving student understanding of content. Many of my students only time to read is at school. As educators it is imminent that we make use of the little time we have with the students. Reading is our key to success.
With the rise of technology, we need to be able to keep the attention of our students with a variety of ways to access reading and great material on our shelves.
