Every semester students create a group project of a toy for children with Cerebral Palsy. By having a 3D printer in our classroom this would help the students' toy prototypes come alive and a reality in our classroom . This would give students a true designing and engineering experience. Students would be able to watch their brainstorming idea go from a sketch in their engineering notebook, to designing their project in computer software program Sketch Up (CAD), then finalizing their project by sending it to the 3D printer.
By having a 3D printer in our classroom, it would allow the students to imagine the possibilities and career choices that are available to them with the skills being taught in this course.
