I teach a group of 14 students high school students that have significant sensory needs. To a typical student, the classroom lights and sounds are just a part of their everyday education. To my students, they are problematic and don’t allow them to fully absorb the education because too much sensory input is being absorbed. I believe we will see significant growth in my students educational and social abilities when they have access to sensory supports. In addition to increased sensory supports, inclusion into the general education community is a big part of our philosophy. Our students in P.E. with their typical peers have a hard time participating in sport activities because we do not have any adapted equipment! Help us provide more integration into everyday school for our students!
