These two magazines by Scholastic, Scholastic News and Storyworks Jr., are awesome ways to incorporate more nonfiction in a fun, inviting, meaningful way.
The fact that these two magazines have short relevant videos to go with the articles make my kids love them. They always ask if there are more videos to go with our stories.
Several articles in the Storyworks Jr. magazine are written by the I Survived author, Lauren Tarshis. They are awesome. Kids love, love, love them. I love all the genres and topics Scholastic hits. They can be used in whole group reading or in a small group reading format.
My goal is for my students to become well-rounded readers with a solid foundation in social studies and science topics.
