The students of today will be the leaders of tomorrow, help to keep them technologically current in the world! I am hoping to provide a 1-to-1 environment, in my classroom at least, for my students with a class set of Kindles. My students (including both English Language Learners and Special Education students) thrive the most when I am able to provide pre-algebra content in multiple formats beyond notes and lectures. They really grow and stay engaged with activites that involve interactivity and instant feedback.
Kindles will provide my classes the daily opportunity to use tools like Fipgrid, Kahoot and Padlet for formative assessment as well as the opportunity to become comfortable with the DESMOS online calculator that all students will be required to use on standardized test starting in the 19-20 school year,
Currently, our school isn't fortunate enough to have the resources to provide 1-to-1 devices and many students do not have their own so we forge on sharing students devices when possible. Having a class set of devices can eliminate this challenge as well as the advantage, over student devices, of maintaining appropriate content control.
