Graphic novels will make a huge difference for my reluctant readers. At the moment, these struggling readers see a typical chapter book and are immediately overwhelmed by the number of words on each page. By providing a variety of graphic novels, these students will be able to use the picture clues to connect the text and gain confidence in their comprehension. Students can still apply literacy based skills we are covering in class to their graphic novels and still show understanding. Once they have the confidence of reading graphic novels, they can then transition into chapter books at their level and still feel successful.

About my class
